     Clara A. Smith was born about 1857 in Iowa, daughter of Martin Smith and Sarah Faust.1

According to the US census of July 24, 1860, Clara was living at home with her parents in Elk Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She was three years old.2

She appeared on the Mallory Township, Clayton County, Iowa, census of June 28, 1870 living at home with her parents. She was at school and her given age was 13 years old.1
