Wilhelmina Adickes
(February 9, 1877 - March 13, 1948)
Wilhelmina Adickes was born on Friday, February 9, 1877.1,2 An alternate spelling of her name is Wilhelmina Adix.3 She also went by the name of Minnie.4
At age 22, Wilhelmina married Eibe Henry Hachmann on Wednesday, November 15, 1899 at St. John's Lutheran Church, in St. Donatus, Jackson County, Iowa. Eibe was 30 years old. He was the son of Johann Niclaus Hachmann and Anna Katherina Madgalena Grefe. The witnesses were Wilhelm Adickes, Josie Gerber, and Richard Strohmann. In error, the Hachmann Family History booklet lists their wedding year as 1897 (based on church records).5,6,7 An announcement for the marriage of Wilhelmina and Eibe read: The following announcement from an unidentified newspaper reads:

A brilliant home wedding took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Hackman on Wednesday, Nov. 15, when their youngest son, Mr. Ibe Hackman and Miss Wilhelmina Adicks of Gordon's Ferry were united in marriage by Rev. Daniel Dietz of the Lutheran church. At half past ten o'clock the bridal party entered the parlor and Rev. Dietz performed the ceremony according to the Lutheran ritual, after which the young life partners received the congratulations and best wishes of their host of friends and relatives. The party then repaired to the dining room where an elegant and delicious dinner was served, to which [not legible] ample justice. The afternoon and evening were spent with music, [not legible] and dancing to the amusement of all. The bride was gowned in elegant brown broadcloth trimmed with white chiffon, silk and ribbon, and wore orange blossoms in her hair. The bride was attended by Miss Sena Schenk and Miss Lizzie Gaher[sic] who acted as bridesmaids, the groom by Mr. Willie Adicks and Mr. Richard Stroman. The bride received many useful and elegant presents. They will go to housekeeping at the home of the groom's father.4
Wilhelmina died on Saturday, March 13, 1948 in Memorial Gardens in Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado. She was 71 years old.2,3

Mrs. Eibe H. Hachmann, 71, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial hospital after four days illness.
Born February 9, 1877, in Germany, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Katherina Mueller and came to this country and to Gordon’s Ferry in 1885. She and Eibe Hachmann were married in 1899 in St. John’s Lutheran church at St. Donatus and they lived on a farm in that locality until 1922 when they retired and came to Bellevue.
Left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother are her husband, two sons, Arnold of Bellevue and Vincent of Dubuque; four daughters, Mrs. Tony Kabichis of Elgin, Ill., Miss Frieda Hachmann of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. Russell Plutz of Chicago and Mrs. Robert Marsden of Chicago; one brother, William Adickes of Green Island and 11 grandchildren.
Mrs. Hachmann not only mothered her own six children but reared a grandson Arlis Bishop in her home and her hospitable home was always open to neighbors and friends.
The body was taken from the Dye funeral home Monday afternoon to the home in north Bellevue from where the funeral was held to St. John’s Lutheran church with the Rev. C. P. Ringhand officiating at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery at St. Donatus. The pallbearers were John Schenk, Walter Kott, William Schoop Sr. and Kenneth Roeder.4
