     Marcella Maro was born on Sunday, February 16, 1913 in LaMotte, Jackson County, Iowa, daughter of John Maro and Mary Mamie Geber.1 Marcella was christened in St. Teresa's Church in LaMotte, Jackson County, Iowa.2

At age 19, Marcella married Arthur Tigges on Tuesday, January 10, 1933 at St. Teresa's Church, in LaMotte, Jackson County, Iowa. Arthur was 27 years old.2

According to Elgen Mesch, Marcella did beautiful crochet work.3

Marcella died on Saturday, September 11, 2004. She was 91 years old. She died after spending years in a nursing home and care center. She was a victim of Ahlzheimer's Disease.4 She was laid to rest in the St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in South of Dubuque, off of Hwy 52, Dubuque County, Iowa.3

Marcella M. Tigges

Marcella M. Tigges, 91, of Luther Manor, Dubuque, formerly of 155 Devon Drive, Dubuque and St. Catherine, Iowa, died at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Luther Manor.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Dubuque, with the Rev. Mark Ressler officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, where there will be a wake service 3 p.m.

She was born on Feb. 16, 1913, in LaMotte, Iowa, daughter of John and Mary (Geber) Maro.

She married Arthur Tigges on Jan. 10, 91033, at St. Theresa Catholic Church; and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1955. She and Arthur formed in Mosalem Township until 1965, when they moved Dubuque.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, the St. Joszita C.M.S.C. and the Dubuque County Farm Bureau. She also was a member of several card clubs and had many hobbies, including sewing and quilting.

Surviving are two children..3
