Betty was just a young child when her mother, Irene, died on October 28, 1927, nine days after giving birth to, Donald, her second child.1,2

Upon her mother's death, Betty Lou was raised by her paternal grandparents. Her maternal grandparents raised her baby brother.3

Betty married Charles Friedlin.2
