     Adam Whitehead was born about 1836 in Pennsylvania, son of Adam Whitehead and Mary.3

Adam married Mary Jane Lenhart, daughter of Joseph Lenhart and Elizabeth Baughman, between 1859 and 1860, in Pennsylvania.4,3

Adam appeared in the North Huntington Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, US census of June 15, 1860 as head of household. He was age 24 and working as a cooper. The value of his personal estate was $100.00. She was 21 years old. She and Adam had been married within the previous year.3

He and his parents were born in Pennsylvania. She was 40 years old and keeping house. She and her parents were born in Pennsylvania. Six children were also in the household: Franklin was age 19, Joseph was age 16, Sylvester was age 13, Emma was age 9, Eva was age 3, Ellevetta was age 3. Joseph, Sylvester, and Emma had attened school within the census year. Adam's mother Mary Whitehead was also living with the family. She was 69 years old.1
