Arthur married Ione Anita Neuendorf, daughter of Herman August Neuendorf and Augusta Ottielia Reetz, on April 25, 1942, at Dubuque Bible Church.3

Arthur died on Wednesday, June 12, 1996 at age 75.2 He was laid to rest in the Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, Iowa.2
