     Ernest H. Wilke was born on Tuesday, December 2, 1924 in Dodge Center, Dodge County, Minnesota, son of Gus Wilke and Eva Pope.2

Ernest married Lelia Donnan, daughter of Homer Donnan and Grace Stella Smith, on January 12, 1946, in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois.1,3

He became a widower at age 52 when his wife, Lelia, died on April 19, 1977.3,4

Ernest married Virgie Marquette, daughter of Lou Marquette and Irene Yeigh, on August 19, 1978, in Andrews, Andrews County, Texas.2

Ernest died on Monday, January 18, 1999 at the Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg, Clayton County, Iowa. He was 74 years old.2 He was laid to rest on Thursday, January 21, 1999 in the Guttenberg City Cemetery in Guttenberg, Clayton County, Iowa.2

Ernest Wilke, 74 of Guttenberg died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999 at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Graveside services were held Thursday at the Guttenberg City Cemetery.

Earnest H. Wilke was born Dec. 2 1924 in Dodge Center, Minn., as son of Gus and Eva (Pope) Wilke. He graduated from high school, served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for Exxon Oil Co. for 31 years. He was a life member of the Amvets.

On Aug. 19 1978 he was united in marriage to Virgie Marquette in Andrews, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Virgie; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Fay (Roger) Osborne of San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Bill Wilke of Roberts, Texas and Larry (Karen) Wilke of Sweet Water, Texas; one step-daughter, Mrs. Janice (Steve) Patzner of Garnavillo; one step-son, Jim (Beth) Steen of Guttenberg; four grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lee (Donnan) Wilke; and one sister, Edna, in infancy.

Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, was in charge of arrangements. There was no visitation.5
