 Purple Oatmeal Cookies?
I thought I'd let you sneak in and watch
my three year old granddaughter, Shyanne, and me make cookies. It seemed like a good day to be baking as the weather is cold and windy. We pulled up the old wooden chair for
Shyanne to climb up on and I asked her what kind of cookies should we make, and with a huge smile and eyes beaming in excitement she said, "Purple ones...yeh!"
I tried to suggest we make old fashioned oatmeal cookies, putting on the same smile and excitement that she showed. "Yes, purple ones," she confirmed.
O.K. Well I suppose we could put purple food coloring in the dough and make them purple. Ahhhh . . . bright idea here! Grandpa was craving blackberries the
other day. Blackberries would turn the dough purple and taste good! S
he suggested that we put flour on the table first. So I gave her some flour to play with on waxed paper. She let me know that she was making castles as she
totally enjoyed playing in the flour before her. We started with the butter/shortening and put the two eggs on top of that. "That's really pretty on the greasy stuff,
Grandma." We added the brown sugar and mixed. "Ummm-that looks goodie," as she is holding out her cup full of flour ready to add to the bowl.
We finished the recipe and dropped them on the cookie sheet. While they were baking she played in the sink full of warm soapy bubbles and some plastic dishes that we had used. When she was done,
she was all clean and happy. We now have beautiful
Purple Oatmeal Cookies. And they are delicious.
With delight, Shyanne said, "When grandpa comes home you can serve him his cookies." OL' Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies Mix together:
